US 1M Mid Winter Regatta

Instead of cloudy, rainy and cold the day turned out to be clear, sunny and warm. And some of us have the sunburn to prove it. The wind was spotty at times but we were able to get in 12 races in a very reasonable amount of time. With sixteen entrants the race committee changed the start line from it’s usual position to a line formed by mark 5 and a temporary marker almost due south of it. From there it was off to mark 1, continuing to mark 2, then to mark 4 (thereby setting up a figure 8 course), over to mark 3 and finish at the normal position. Also a big thanks to the race committee, Don Frakes and Larry Hough.

Mark Mason took first, Pete Kruse; second and Bob “Shoe” Schumacher; third. Congratulations to the top finishers.
